Custer-Glenn Funeral Home has been a part of Wooster Community since its founding in 1984 by John A. Custer. At the time the Custer Funeral Home was built, Mr. Custer served Wayne County area with funeral services as well as ambulatory services. In 1990, Samuel A. Glenn joined the funeral home as a licensed funeral director/embalmer and also assisted as a licensed Emergency Medical Technician. When Mr. Custer retired, Samaritan Care Ambulance Service took over the ambulatory portion of the business. Samuel became manager of the funeral home until 2007, at which time he and his wife, Christine became owners.
It is the mission of Custer-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services to facilitate meaningful ways for families to grieve their loss and celebrate the memories of their loved ones.

Samuel A. & Christine M. Glenn,
Licensed Funeral Director/Owners
Samuel was born and raised in Akron, Ohio area and graduated from Norton High School in 1980. After attaining his degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and serving his required apprenticeship, he received his license as a funeral director and embalmer in 1987. He joined Custer Funeral Home in 1990 as a funeral director/embalmer and also utilized his EMT license by assisting with the ambulance portion of the business. He is a member of Church of the Saviour, Wooster, and enjoys outdoors, jogging, biking and spending time with his family including KC the family dog.
Christine was born and raised in Barberton, Ohio and graduated in 1981 from Barberton High School. After serving the public at the Barberton Public Library from Library Aide to Clerk-Treasurer, she graduated from Akron School of Dental Assisting in 1991. In 1993, her backgrounds of bookkeeping and dental knowledge were combined when she was hired by Wooster dentist, Alan R. Kiefer. She works part-time scheduling appointments and handles billing and insurance for his dental practice. Christine is a member of Church of the Savior in Wooster. She and Samuel have 2 children. Son, Jordan is 14, and daughter, Emilee is 5.
Sonny & Betty Smith,
Cremation Specialist & Family Service Advisor
Sonny Smith, Family Service and CANA (Cremation Association of North America) Certified Cremation Specialist, is a lifelong resident of the Wooster area. His entire career has involved serving the public.
Sonny and his wife, Betty, a program coordinator at OARDC (Ohio Agricultural Research and Developmental Center) in Wooster, are active members of the Wooster Community. Sonny has a son, Mike, living in Orrville and a daughter, Caryn, living in Wadsworth.
At Custer-Glenn Funeral Home for the past five years, Sonny has served families with the utmost compassion in their time of grief after the loss of a loved one. Recently, Sonny has become certified in cremation and is most empathetic in serving the needs of those who have lost a treasured pet.
Beth Bishop,
Licensed Pre-Need Advisor & Family Service Assistant
Beth Bishop & her husband Dan have been married for 35 years. They came to Wooster from Ashland County in the mid 70's when Dan became employed by the City Of Wooster. Their daughter, Christy Bishop, and their newlywed daughter Carrie with her husband Nick Moore also reside in Wooster.
Beth came to Custer-Glenn Funeral Home with a heart for helping people. She brings a level of caring and compassion that is seldom found in the world today. Beth is licensed to provide pre-need and pre-funding of services. She meets with individuals to gather their pertinent information then assists them to make decisions that will fulfill their desires at the time of their passing.
Beth is available to present informative programs about pre-arranging funeral and cremation services to civic, church and other community groups. When you meet with Beth, she helps you to feel comfortable and informed.
Roy E. Overmier,
Family Service Advisor
Roy & Sue Overmier have lived in the Wooster area for the past 27 years. Roy is semi-retired and his wife Sue has been a Sales Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years in the area.
They are both very active in church related activities as well as many other community related organizations and services.
At Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Roy has served families in many capacities with utmost compassion and caring during their time of grief.
